Ruby's BBQ on 29th and Guad

Austin has many barbecue restaurants, and much of their selections can meet the needs of you Paleo-peeps. One place in particular, Ruby's Barbeque on 29th and Guadalupe, puts emphasis on natural, hormone free meats and makes for a tasty Paleo treat.

Their whole chicken is amazing. Their brisket can be very good . Their pulled pork is soooo damned tasty. Their chopped beef is amazing too, though the sugar in the sauce may be too much for those of you not willing to "flex". Same with the fat in the sausage, which is delicious but may be too fatty for the die-hard Paleo. Their ribs are often dry and not my favorite.

They also have a variety of sides that should do the trick, from a vinegar based cole slaw, side salad, collard greens, to black beans (which some folks consider fine for Paleo grub). Sorry I can't help you on dessert :(

Jimmy John's "JJ Unwich"

Jimmy John's sandwich shop provides an excellent menu for Paleo-friendly sandwiches. Thanks to their "JJ Unwich" option, you can get any menu item wrapped in thick layers of lettuce and shaped with their sandwich paper into the shape of a big fat sub (make sure to ask for no cheese).
Jimmy John's delivers, and if you work near one of their shops, the delivery can come in as fast as 5 minutes! Very nice option for Paleo lunch at work.

I miss Jimmy John's delicious bread, but am becoming equally addicted to the Unwich. Now if they could only come up with a bag of Paleo chips....
